As part of my attempt to continue improving on different areas of my life, I decided to start journaling.
I had started journaling back in July while I was in Brazil for World Youth Day but it quickly faded away and I stopped.
Just a few days ago I went back to those journal entries and I was amazed at how much that went on during those days I had already forgotten. I was fascinated at my own insights on things that had happened, and I realized something.
Our lives are full of rich, infinitely valuable little moments that are fleeting and will never come back.
So I decided to start journaling again, and this time with a vengeance.
For the last week or so I have been writing daily, sometimes even twice a day, registering my feelings, my thoughts, my insights on what happens around me, and even making resolutions for the day ahead.
I has been extremely valuable, and I recommend you try it.
As a challenge, I recommend you do it this way:
- Write a single journal entry a day, for about 3 days. Register your thoughts, and meditate onto the paper (or keyboard) on the events of the day.
- Stop and wait a week.
- Go back to those entries and read them.
- Continue journaling, this time consistently.
You will be amazed.
You will be taken back to those days and relive the feelings and moments.
It will colour your current goings-on and give it a different spin.
But most of all, you will start to see a storyline to your life, and you will see that all of a sudden you will feel empowered to change it for the better.
Give it a try and let me know.

Hey buddy,
I get this. I keep a journal myself. It has about 200+ entries in it. Sometimes I can’t bear to go back and read some of the stuff I wrote as it’s so cringeworthy!! 🙂 Either way, it’s good practice to reflect on events and try to learn from them, so I wholeheartedly back you on this one.
All the best,
Francis
