The best definition I’ve heard is this:

To will the good of the other.

Under that definition, you can love anyone, even your enemies. Even those you find despicable, because turning un-despicable would be good for them, and if you wish they were that, you are loving them.

See how there are no feelings involved?

The biggest lie is that love is something that happens to you. Like a lost cupid arrow that you happen to walk in front of.

Love is an action. It’s a commandment. It’s something you can make up your mind and do it.

And it may not require the beloved to be aware of it. You can will their good from a distance.

So love. It’s easy.
